Authenticity & Sourcing

Otakora (Pty) Ltd is a South African collector-run marketplace. Every item listed on otakora.co.za is inspected in-hand before it goes live. We do not dropship, resell unknown inventory or list items we have not personally verified.

1. Where our stock comes from

We do not hold a single wholesale supplier agreement. Our inventory is built from a small number of trusted sources:

  • Personal collection pulls and breaks from sealed products we open ourselves.
  • Retail purchases from authorised local distributors and reputable hobby retailers (receipts retained where available).
  • Collector-to-collector trades, accepted only after the items are inspected and, where graded, matched to the issuing grader’s certificate database.

2. How we verify authenticity

  • Sealed products: factory seals, shrink wrap and tamper-evident packaging are checked before listing. We photograph the product as listed.
  • Graded slabs: every slab is checked against the official cert verification portal of the grading company (PSA, CGC, TAG, BGS or ACE) before being listed. The grade, cert number and card details must match.
  • Raw single cards: each card is inspected in-hand for set symbol, card number, holo pattern, texture, language, condition and any obvious tampering. We do not list cards we cannot confidently identify.
  • Japanese and imported cards: sourced only from reputable sellers and cross-checked for set, number and language before listing.

3. What we can provide on request

For compliance, disputes or high-value orders we can supply:

  • In-hand photographs of the exact item, including factory seals or slab condition.
  • Screenshots of graded-slab certificate verification from the grading company’s database.
  • Retail receipts or purchase records where they are available.
